awarded a forfeit for those rounds. Bill Salot, 80, grew up
in Detroit. As a teenager, he learned from many famous local and visiting players at the Detroit Club, and began composing checker problems. After college, and 2 years in the
Army, he moved to Virginia to marry Lou, a girl he met there. After 56 years, they have 3 children. He is still working full time as a principal engineer for the company he joined in 1953. He has kept in touch with the game, but only recently has become more active.
Incidentally, he had his 80th birthday Sunday, September 20th, and Allied Chemical & Dye Corporation is now Honeywell International of Hopewell, VA.
Read When the mid place finishers is a
non-resident then the next place VA finisher nearest him is selected. Only VA

BTW... Buck & Barbara will celebrate
their 53rd Anniversary on September 23rd. Our oldest player was Mr.
Bill Stanley who is 88 years young (DOB 7/22/1921). Plenty of excellent
checker talent, great fellowship, and a wonderful time for everyone who
attended!
